Messages of Support for Mike

Alan L. (6/06/08 12:13PM): Go Mike! Hope you're having a great & safe ride.

Joel (6/06/08 12:03PM): Hi Mike! How's the ride going?

Is it the same course as last year?

Do you even get these messages?

Is Dale behaving himself? And better yet, are YOU behaving yourself?

Did you get to eat with Beth at least once? She is Miss Popular, ain't she?

Hey, I invited you guys to brunch next weekend (for the San Rafael Italian Street Paintin Festival). You'll come, won't you? And you can tell us all about the ride!

Enjoy your last few miles of pedaling, OK?

You've done a great thing!

See you next weekend!

Love ya!

Joel

Edwina (6/05/08 5:52PM): Hey babe!

2 more days to go! Then you can put the bike away till ALC8! See you at the finish line!

Edwina

Andy Philips (6/04/08 2:57PM): Mike,

GO RIDER!!!

Hope you had a fabulous Day 4 and are ready with your Red Wear for tomorrow. I miss my FPs. I'll be watching for you in the daily photos and videos.

Stay safe. Wear plenty of sunscreen.

You are awesome!

Go Frog Puppies!

Andy

Joel (6/03/08 5:00PM): Hey Mike -- How's the ride going? It's all downhill to LA, isn't it? I was looking for a bicycle-related message to send you today. I found a quote from Mark Twain who once said, "Learn to ride a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live."

I hope you are not regretting a single second of the experience! You're halfway! Yippie!

Pedal Pedal Pedal!

Love Ya! Mean It!

Joel (6/02/08 3:29PM): Hey Mike,

I hope the start wasn't too chilly for ya yesterday. Thanks for riding yet again for an awesome cause! Great to see you on Saturday. Now go take a shower already, will ya? ;-)

Daniel Davies (6/02/08 7:57AM): Dear Mike,

I am so sorry I am unable to be there to relieve your aching muscles. What your doing is amazing. I look forward to seeing you soon and hearing all the gossip...who did what with who...how and when! Keep peddling hard.

Bid Kiss

We MADE IT!!! Road EVERY mile! HOME again!

Arrived into Closing Ceremonies about 1:15 PM (fastest ever), even stopped for Ice Cream before wondering into the venue!

We road every mile again this year.  Initial analysis shows some days faster, other days somewhat slower, but overall we were doing some 18/21 mph stretches!

Weather was good - mostly cool (a few days of hot sun, a few burnt spots) - but overall nice cool breezes.  Not as windy as years past - but still some strong cross winds in places (even blew 1 person over).

Closing Cermonies (with guest speaker actress Jane Lynch) were good (as usual - too much time in the hot sun waiting), but the music and enthusiasm of the crowds made the event!

May 18 - Last Ride

Did a little spin around the city yesterday.  Had planned on going to Fairfax, but as we road down Embarcadero, noticed the golden gate bridge totally in Fog.  Since we were not dressed for that, did a 10 mile city tour.

Sunday - drove up to Marin to Lucas Valley and rode 27 miles up and down some hills.  Good ride.

Now is the time to donate if you were planning on doing so - all online donations due 5/28.

We are up at 4AM on 6/1 and head out for 7 days of peddling over 545 miles.

Watch the news and keep track on the "Experience" tab of the main page - www.aidslifecycle.org.

SF to Lagunitas

50 mile ride on Saturday.   COLD.  Had seat adjusted monday night after yet another bike fit.  Made me ride slower, but using more power from the upper leg.  We will see how this goes!  Took the ferry back from Sausalito.

Stenson Beach to Point Reyes

2/10 - rode with a small group from Stenson Beach to Point Reyes.  Couple of challenging hills (well, it has been a while), but the downhill was SWEET!  Really nice ride, along the water and not so crazy busy road.  Need to do this one a couple more times before June to perfect the hill climbing! :)

Tib Loop - Reverse

Love doing the Tib Loop in reverse - more "rolling" than the other way.  First real ride since the ride around Lake Tahoe in Sept, so been a while.

Almost stopped in Tiburon (after having lunch), but pushed on and wound back at the Saulsalito Ferry to drop the hill climb and gg bridge.  Glad we did!
