I'm Riding to End AIDS

Hi, guys! Just a few months ago I moved to the Chicagoland area and started my new job as a prosthetist. I heard about this ride about a year and a half ago and have wanted to do it ever since. During my residency in Maine, I knew there was no way I could train for it. Now, having completed my residency I've got the time and the drive to do it! I'm thrilled to be participating and expect this to be quite an experience.

So, if you haven't realized it by now, I'm going to be bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle 7 from June 1-7, 2008. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.

Training in the winter is hard work!

Please support me!

Adrienne (5/29/08 9:54AM): Hi Meg,

I know we don't chat much, online or otherwise, but I just wanted to let you know that I think what you're doing is super cool. It will be quite a memorable experience for you, to say the least, but also your participation will (hopefully) create many more memories for someone who might not have had the chance to collect them due to a shortened life span. You rock! (or should I say roll?....)

Jacquie Allison (5/28/08 12:53PM): Have a safe ride! Great adventure for a great cause. See you the week after Turkey Day in the Windy City.

Annette (4/23/08 9:59PM): Hi Meg, I'm Annette, rider 1260 from San Francisco. We haven't met but I wanted to say thank you for participating this year. I ride for my brother, Chris, who passed away from AIDS, so I appreciate all the hard work you are doing as well to help put an end to HIV/AIDS. I can hardly wait until all 2500 of us roll into LA. Ride strong and good luck. Annette

Cathryn Albin (4/21/08 8:43PM): Good luck Meg!!! It's an awesome thing you are doing :)

Josh (4/19/08 12:11PM): Hey Meg - It's Josh. Rider #1572. I was catching up with your page and your blog. Wow. I thought I had it bad trying to train on a stationary/trainer in my hotel room in MSP these past few months. I had no idea your wrist was such an issue. I really admire your determination to do this ride despite the physical ails that have set you back with your training. Hopefully we can meet in person at one of the upcoming training rides or the fundraiser event I have planned for May 10th. See you soon!

Alissa #1646 (4/18/08 5:47PM): I came across your blog page and wanted to say good luck in the ride! How is training going? I've been struggling a bit and a lot nervous, but I just have to remember why I am out there and I know I'll be fine!

Take Care!

Kristina Davis (3/16/08 9:00AM): Great to meet you the other night! I can't wait to possibly do some training rides together when your arm gets a bit better. :)

lauren osborn (1/25/08 5:09PM): meg, this is wonderful! go you! i know it seems like a lot of money, but i have faith that you can do it in six months. you should post more about it on facebook. and i'll give more when i can. :)

Darrell and Jane (1/25/08 6:31AM): Go Meg!!! You're fantastic! Enjoy the ride.

Aunt Sharon (1/24/08 8:22PM): Meg,,,,, you go girl!!!..
