Finally Making the Commitment

**********************************

After several years of saying I'd do it some day, I've finally registered and committed to participating in the AIDS/LifeCycle from June 1-7, 2008. Thank you Andrew for stealing my wallet and using my credit card to register me!

I'd always shyed away from the whole bike/walk/etc concept in the past and instead went the route of contributing to medical research. In 2003 I received a trial vaccine from Merck as part of a study on its effectiveness.

The AIDS/LifeCycle is a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. As most of you know, road trips and bike rides are two things I enjoy...so I'm pretty excited about having an oportunity to participate in such an event while raising money for such a great cause.

Help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. For those of you that are local to San Francisco, I'll keep this site (or my blog) updated on fundraisers I'll be organizing between now and June to help me reach my goal. Every little bit helps bring me closer!

Mikey's Goal: $2,500.00
Current Total: $1,802.91

Annette (5/07/08 10:56AM): Hi Mikey, I'm Annette, rider 1260 from San Francisco. We haven't met but I wanted to say thank you for participating this year. I ride for my brother, Chris, who passed away from AIDS, so I appreciate all the hard work you are doing as well to help put an end to HIV/AIDS. I can hardly wait until all 2500 of us roll into LA. Ride strong and good luck. Annette

Training Ride 02.17.2008

On Sunday, Danl and I rode from our place in the Mission along the bay to Millbrae for a total of 23.5 miles on mainly flat terrain.
I found the new "slicks" I had installed on my by to replace the offroad tires have greatly reduced the amount of work required
to get my bike going!

Next weekend we plan a longer ride in the East Bay...
