Life has taken more unpredicted turns than a tourist on Lombard Street; nevertheless, some of my beliefs have been put to the test and remain as true today as I held them to be when we first met. I remember nights at dinner, cinema in the Mission..or a speaker you'd once heard then igniting a rep's flame to blaze a national effort that would benefit the resilience of HIV physicians everywhere. On this day, the ride - or perhaps, a destined leg of a longer journey - begins. My support can only come to you in words. So with deep gratitude, for all you have done to support me, your friend & patient, just as much as you're out riding for all your patients and friends, our shared brothers and sisters and all those in need of hope, I sincerely thank you. I have seen the Change, Shawn. In you - from someone I knew was was special, who I did what I could when I could and who has returned it 10-fold to me, and who exhibits every strength of not just resilience, but heroism.
