ALONE I CAN'T DO IT!

One more time... I RIDE TO END AIDS!

This is my third year participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a fundraiser ride to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

I was fortunate enough to share my last two rides with many people affected by this disease. Many of them were able to ride and volunteer thanks to the critical services this ride supports. Last year's ride raised over $11 million and more than 70% of this money went directly to the hospitals and clinics that depend on AIDS/LifeCycle to continue to provide services and treatment to people affected by HIV/AIDS.

This year I will once again be riding the 550 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The adventure has inspired me to the point where I have not stopped training for this cause since the ride completed last year. This year, I have taken my dedication to a new level by training new riders for this amazing experience.

This year I am a member of UTAC (Until There is A Cure) Cycling Team www.teamutac.com

Team UTAC will ride this year in honor of Caleb Glover. Caleb is a 3 year HIV+ boy who was denied access last year to a public pool in Alabama because of his HIV status. To read more about Caleb please go to:

I NEED YOUR HELP! Please support me. Any amount you donate helps...

Help me achieve my personal goal of raising $10,000.00 for this cause. I hope I can count on you.

Thanks for helping me help others,

Daniel

HERE ARE SOME FACTS ABOUT HIV/AIDS:

In the United States...

There are approximately 1.2 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States. It is estimated that a quarter of them don't know it. - Since the start of the AIDS epidemic, 1.5 million Americans have been infected with HIV and more than 550,000 have died of AIDS. - At least 40,000 more people are infected each year, with young people, men who have sex with men, and communities of color most heavily affected. - African Americans account for 50% of new HIV infections, although they comprise only 12% of the population. - Black women account for 67% of new AIDS cases reported in women. - Estimated deaths among Latinos with AIDS rose 17% from 1999 to 2003. During the same period, deaths among whites with AIDS declined 18%. - From 2000 through 2003, the rate of HIV diagnosis among Asian/Pacific Islander males increased almost 40%. - At least half of all new infections are among people under the age of 25.

In the World...

A total of 39.5 million people now live with HIV/AIDS - 2.2 million of them are under the age of 15 - In 2006, an estimated 4.3 million people were infected with HIV - 530,000 were under the age of 15 - Every day 12,000 people contract HIV -- 500 every hour. - In 2006, 2.9 million people died from AIDS, 380,000 of whom were under the age of 15. That's one child dying per minute..

Greg (5/29/08 9:09AM): Daniella! I'm so proud of you, raising money and training all the way from the land of tops in NYC! Way to go! You continue to inspire & amaze me! My biggest concern for you this year is who will push you every day... day in and day out?! Who will make you laugh to the point that you can barely concentrate on the road ahead?! Who will keep you up at night and more importantly, since my lil shake & bake isn't riding this year, who will you pursue this year!! ha ha I am gonna miss you and all that the ride is this next week. The journey only gets better every year, and I'm sad to not be taking it in with my LA boys. I love & miss you, I promise to be back next year so we can push Donnie a lil harder and possibly ruin his other knee! You're in my thoughts & prayers, I hope & pray that you all arrive safely in LA taking away a piece of the amazing community the ride is and giving it away to those around you in NYC when you return home! Make us proud! Remember, if you're not first, you're last!

With your gracious personality you helped me out and I want to once again say "Thank you". I will never forget your kind, warm and caring spirit. I never told you this but at that point I was either going to be a ALC Rider myself or not. And you made all the difference in my decision. This year i'll be participating in my 2nd ALC ride. See you on the road! Take care.

Christina Russillo (2/21/08 1:00PM): Best of luck! xx

Mark Tamis (2/19/08 6:06AM): Remember keep the headphones off and your eyes open!
