I'm Riding to End AIDS

This is a true story....

Caleb. A 2 year old foster child. A beautiful, innocent little boy. While on vacation with his Foster Parents in Silver Hill, Alabama, Caleb was denied accsess to the swimming pool and to the showers. The family was told that they were not welcomed due to the fact, that the child they care for was indeed infected with the HIV/AIDS virus.

This is Caleb's story as reported on ABC News:

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3356281

People are still so ignorant.

I continue to ride to change that. I need your help.

From June 1-7, 2008, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Please donate what you can with the hope that together, we will put an end to HIV/AIDS. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.

Caleb. I ride to honor him....

Eric Kamm (5/29/08 1:46PM): Brian - Brother - You are an honor to work with to the goals we have shared. Together, we have done much and have much yet to do! I thank you for you! Eric

Mark Botello (5/28/08 5:44PM): Brain, you are such a star! I so admire everything that you do, and so look forward to just riding with you. Take care my friend!

MOM (5/26/08 11:07PM): Brian, I am so proud of you. Your natural goodness and generosity propel you forward and all those around you are the better for it. I send you all my love. Mom

The Jen (5/26/08 6:17PM): I truly do believe you will do anything for anyone in need. I've witnessed it all season and am learning each day to be a better person. I'm a better person for having been in your presence. I hope that I too can share that giving spirit with others. Thank you for all that you do. Thank you for Caleb, thank you for Team UTAC, thank you for you...jen

Goldstar (5/25/08 9:02PM): Brian, I have witnessed it all year, and I don't know how you do it. You say everything will be okay, and it just is. You set such a good example for this people-pleaser worry-wart. I am also so grateful that you have brought Caleb and Sylvia and Dick into all of our lives. We are all better for the time we got to spend with them. And thank you for having a vision and running with it. We are surrounded by such an amazing group of people. I have been truly blessed this year.

Roller Derby Dave Marez #5407 (5/23/08 9:16PM): Hiya tentmate Brian. I gotta tell you that I watched you last year and how people gravitated towards you. I've seen gay, straight and transexual cyclists come and talk to you. You know alotta people say they don't really care about someones sexuality etc. but when they leave they smirk or laugh. You are true to yourself and it shows LOUD and CLEAR. And because of what you've shown me is the reason I have so much 'new found' respect, love and admiration for you. You are true to yourself and you're real. This year I wanted to be around positive minded ALC cyclists and when I met you I hit the jack pot. I'm glad I met you because its only after someone dies that one hears how great a person was. Not so with you. As my all time favorite singer Patti Labelle would sang "When you've been blessed pass it on" and man you've been passing alot on to all of us new cyclists this year and Team UTAC. I appreciate your friendship and the time you've spent with me thus far. During our journey I look forward to learning more about you as a cyclist, a human being and a friend. You've done so much for the ALC and AIDS community and I appreciate all your hard work and dedication. And although I wasn't able to share World AIDS Day, December 1, 2007 with my fellow ALC cyclists, I was there in spirit. And the footage that you shared with me just so happened to mention my friends that lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. Thank you for remembering those whom are gone. Take care.

Kari (5/19/08 9:42AM): Boo. You inspire me to ride more, raise more, be more. Can't wait to see you (again)!!

Haley ~ aka 49 ~ rider #5668 (5/14/08 3:13PM): Brian -- You freakin' rock! I can't wait till we are traveling 49miles/hr down from San Franny to LA-La-Land! Thank you for opening the arms of UTAC and allowing me to get a big team hug! See you on the 25th.

big hugs of love! ~Haley

"Uncle Mel" (5/13/08 10:10PM): Brian,

Thanks for leading our group to Chicken Lady's house on Sunday. It was great to once again see his amazing spirit.

The group on Sunday was so much fun and it was great that the riders would wait and let the slower ones(me) catch up.

Brian N (5/13/08 8:24PM): My Brother, I remember sitting talking with you, less than a year ago, of heading in a new direction...using your heart as a compass. Well, fast forward to now....Team UTAC is a reality, both north and south...Caleb, Sylvia and Dick have benefitted from not just your intentions of kindness but from your actions, as will many others before we are done. I see a giant boulder, just beginning to roll. I'm proud to be a tiny part and more proud to call you my friend. By the way....When is our next ride after alc7? I'm ready.... I know you are too! UNTIL...

Jen (5/13/08 6:49PM): Thank you for flying us to the Chicken Lady's Coop on Sunday...it was such a blessing to meet Ken. Your generous spirit keeps me focused on why we are doing this.

Dawn Theodore (5/13/08 1:43PM): Thank you Brian for riding for this great cause....

Tracy (5/12/08 7:02PM): Bri...what can I say??? I am so very proud of you once again for all that you do for this very special cause. You are a truly loved, giving, special man...Skylar, Elie and I appreciate you very much. Good luck and we LOVE YOU!!!

Val (5/08/08 5:35PM): Brian, all I can say is YOU ROCK! I'm glad I met you and Team UTAC. Its been great riding with all of you, and you have been so awesome! You were there for my first ALC training ride and I remember seeing you again at the ALC expo shortly after where you mentioned the Calabasas ride... best decision I made! and from that day on, you guys got stuck with me! Thanks for everything you do and especially for allowing me to volunteer and escort Sylvia, Dick, and Caleb to Disneyland... that hands down has been one of the best things I've gotten to experience :) Thanks for never leaving me behind, thanks for always being silly and making us all laugh and thanks for being at my fundraiser and speaking... oh and my pin!! But more touching is your passion and commitment to others.....last year, dedicating the ride to Darren for his courage and this year to the 2 year old little boy is so honorable! I am proud to be your cousin! Cathy

Jen Moore (2/16/08 4:46PM): Brian, Thank you so much for your support today. I am overwhelmed by the wealth of support and kindness on these rides. I hope to ride with you again soon. Jen

Peter Carlson (1/30/08 8:33AM): Brian, I just wanted to let you know that your support has been invaluable as I've been training for this June. My husband, Eric Kamm, got me started on this road, but it's people such as you who have been encouraging me and supporting me all along, and up the hills. Thanks for that.

deb smith, # 5143 (12/30/07 9:00PM): Hey Brian.... I am so glad we will make this journey together again this year! I always look forward to your smiling face... your personable way with people.... your encouragement when the ride gets tough.... as you pass me this year on myu recumbent, reach out and show me some love!!! I'll do the same for you on the downhills!!! love you for all you do!! ride strong, may the road rise up to meet you and the wind be at your back, my friend!

Chrystyna (12/21/07 4:19PM): I have to comment on the rider number thing..I dont get what the big deal of 5150 is but YEAH YOU for 5150!! haha We are gonna take over the ride this year.."ON YOUR LEFT!!" love ya for what your doing!

ErinCurry1099 (Rider #5048) (11/18/07 1:41PM): Brian--Sincerity and openness is hard to come by these days. You embrace these two qualities. It has been such a pleasure to get to know you this year. I enjoy being a part of the passion you have for this Ride, for this cause. When you say you want to do something, you do it. So many people live in fear of going after what they want. Thank you for being a part of this experience with me and for always making me smile.

Chris C. (10/26/07 5:56PM): Thanks for your support and help on the 150. See you next month. Ridestrong.

See you on the road! -Jen

Mikki (8/07/07 4:13PM): That's funny, you got 5150! Anyhow...I love you Brian, you're the best!!!!!!!!!! :) Mikki
