I'm Riding to End AIDSFrom June 1-7, 2008, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. I am riding to support the amazing services that the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center provides and all of the courageous people that they serve. As you may know, I spent a year and a half working in the Mental Health Clinic at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center during my doctoral program. I was often the first person a client told about their HIV status after receiving a positive diagnosis. It was an honor and a privilege to assist these men and women in navigating their struggles; it was a true lesson in strength, courage, and perseverance. The services that the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center provides are invaluable; I believe in the staff of the LAGLC and am thrilled to be able to support the wonderful and necessary services they provide to the community. I ride to honor the courage of those living with HIV/AIDS. I ride for my friends, colleagues, and clients who are impacted by this disease. I ride for those who keep their HIV status hidden because of fear and shame. I ride for those who can no longer ride. Help me support the HIV/AIDS-related services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
