It's not too late to donate!

I'm using my passion as a cyclist to raise money to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. From June 1-7, 2008, I'm bicycling 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in AIDS/LifeCycle.

Help me raise much needed funds and for local AIDS prevention, testing, treatment and youth programs.  We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.

Thanks!   Ron

PS-  It's not too late.  Even though the ride is over and my legs are toast, you can still sponsor me!  Thanks!!!!

Messages of Support for Ron

Tre Gibbs (6/16/08 5:33PM): Awesome job, Ron!

Catherine (6/04/08 9:10PM): Oh, so NOW the ride gets tough... & it's about time - sounded like you having waaaayyyy too much fun! Enjoy!

kiecker (6/04/08 6:31PM): btw, I believe it's day 6 on the ride....make sure you take advantage of Paradise Pit. It is THE best pit stop along the ride. it's not an offical ALC stop, but it's put on by the best people. Homemade icecream, treats, massages, etc.....just awesome!

colette (6/04/08 6:08PM): hey guy you're getting closer to home! hope everything is going well.

Kiecker (6/04/08 9:29AM): Hey dude. Thanks for doing the GabCasting; really cool. Looking forward to the one where you're live drafting a semi at 60mph! Congrats again on doing the ride. Make sure you remember that the only task you have this week is to ride your bike; therefore no reason to beat the trucks into camp. Stop, find some coffee along the way, and hang out :) I bet right about now you're getting close to rounding the halfway point of the ride and taking a few photos. Right afterwards is a 12 mile long descent. As good as a 12 mile descent seems, I totally remember having to pace myself going down to keep from overspinning my legs. See you soon.

haig (6/04/08 6:35AM): that's great ron. glad you're enjoying the experience. see you this saturday and keep on riding.

the family (6/03/08 8:26PM): 6/3/08 8:20PM It was great to hear your first two audio diaries, we are looking forward to the rest of them. Are you trying to do one per day ?

Dad, is looking forward to see your photos he hopes you are shooting ...

Mom and Dad felt real proud listening you and hoping the rest of your ride is safe and lots of fun for you.

It sounds like you are in the top 1% of riders as far as getting to the destinations the quickest even though it doesn't sound like a race. Gr8 job !

All the best, love, Mom, Dad, Julie, Steve, Kozmo, Lucy, Angle & Leo

Catherine (6/03/08 8:09AM): Love the Gabcast! Sounds like you're having a blast! Tentmate working out? Can't wait for the next update...

Gail Mancuso (5/04/08 10:33PM): Ride like you've never ridden before RØN!! You Can Do It! Remember to stop and take moments along the way and remember these beautiful new friends and family that are your best friends for a week and hopefully the rest of your lives! You will be riding along some legend roads - stop and enjoy. Write a journal. I'm so proud of you.

Safe journey and safe home Gail

Marc Golden (1/10/08 11:50AM): Go Get 'Em!

Jackie (10/28/07 10:19AM): We wish we could be there too. Have a great time!

John Gillingham (10/14/07 5:05PM): Ron, your life here will soon change as you know it. The months will pass quicker than we both know and the legs and antidipation of a remarkable event will soon be a daily reality that will be over way too fast. Looking forward to more rides and hope you are too. John

Josh (10/04/07 8:43PM): Right on. Good luck Ron!

The home stretch

In less than 8 short weeks I'll be starting my 545 mile journey from San Fransisco to Los Angeles, but I still have a significant amount of money to raise. Since registering last Fall, I have logged many hundreds of miles of training with friends other riders who will be making the trip with me. I've met many people, heard many incredible stories of courage and I've seen inspirational examples of commitment and stamina.  This looks like it's going be a life changing experience for me!

Resolutions

The new year holds many challenges for us.  The writers strike is taking it's toll but it also give us some time to reflect on those much less fortunate than us.  While worried about our bank accounts, others with less money and no insurance are trying to cope with chronic health issues.  For most, the Center is their only resource to keep them in good health.

This month I'll be ramping up my mileage on the bike in training for the big ride and I'll be thinking about how fortunate I really am.  I hope you consider supporting me in helping others.

Here we go...

Hi all. Well I finally made the plunge and registered for the big ride. I've already been on some training rides with other first timers, many of whom have never been on a bike before. It's very inspiring and I look forward to helping them out. I'll be planning some cool fundraising events soon with raffles and stuff. Stay tuned. -Ron
