My Dear Friends and Family -

I want to share with you that I have just embarked on a very exciting time in my life. On June 1, 2008, I will start riding a bicycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles - a 545 mile journey that will span seven days and bring me through the gorgeous backroads of California. Over golden hills, through valleys and vineyards, and along the Pacific Ocean, I will pedal every mile, and this will be something I remember for the rest of my life.

A few of the reasons I am riding: * For those I know who have HIV/AIDS * To improve my physically fitness by doing training rides * It's a great physical challenge for me * To have fun with my friends who are riding with me

The week of the Ride is literally seven days of 'how the world should be.' So many friendly faces and smiles, nice people right there to help repair a flat tire or to encourage you up a grueling hill. Hundreds of 'Roadies' who do everything from setting up camp and rest stations, to serving food, to keeping us safe, to cheering us on... it's a powerful thing when so many people come together for a great cause. I will be sad when it's over.

Join me in my commitment to make a difference - to help end the human suffering caused by AIDS.

This is maybe the hardest thing I will ever do in my life, but it is very important to me to see an end to this horrific disease. I will be sending you updates on my training and how I do during the actual event in June. I hope you will join me with your generous support, both financially and emotionally.

Thank you so much, in advance, for your kind and generous support. Thank you so very much for helping change the lives of people around you.

Very Gratefully, Chris Fava

Mike S (6/05/08 11:34AM): Hey buddy boy...just wanted to tell you again that I love that you are, in your words ever-connected, because I dig your blog. Im like a kid and get all excited when I log on to see your new entries. Next best thing to being there! Hope your day was as fun as the others...seems that you have enjoyed each of them. Im taking a break from all of the meetings and looking at some of the pics on the web site. Man where have I been over the last several years??? I should have kicked my ass in gear, gotten a bike long before now...as you say there's always next year. The thought of doing the ride makes me nervous but in an exciting, "I can do it" way. Like I said before I admire what you are doing...you really are a great guy for doing it! Have a great evening and good rest and a good ride tomorrow to Ventura (you'll be home). Im getting excited to see the event (albeit from a spectator standpoint) and show my support in the way that I can. Take care handsome!!!

Luc & Doug (6/04/08 9:19PM): Hey buddy! How's it going? I'm sure you're doing great! Keep going! :) We're thinking of you! Big hugs and sloppy wet kisses bro! MWAH! Luc & D-Doug xoxo

Grace Fava (5/22/08 10:16AM): Christopher, I come to write this on your birthday. This support ride you are making "will" make a difference, one dollar, one mile at a time for someone out there in need.Since you were very young, you have always tried your best and hardest and exceeded. This bike ride, I'm sure, will be no different. I can't be there with you,(good thing, because you know me with the tears), but I will be there with you in spirit, with my support and with my motherly love. I will pray that you stay safe and finish.I am proud that you are my son. As Dad said-Keep up the good work! You're the best! And remember that each turn of your bike pedal on "your hard road", will help someone on "their harder road" to wellness. I love you~Mom

Luc & Doug (5/21/08 7:20PM): You're not on the road yet as I write this, but this is just one to get you started! Happy riding bro! xoxo

You have so much energy! Looks like a good time.

Best, Mario

Mykul (2/25/08 8:22AM): You are doing a great thing paying it forward Chris. All the friends that I know of whom have also done the bike ride have said it was well worth the sore butt. You don't need me to inspire you, you do well enough on your own.

Gabe (2/06/08 3:41PM): In knowing you for the many years that we've known one another, there is no doubt in my mind as to why you became involved with such a wonderful cause/ event/ and organization. It's because you have always been mindful and sensitive of other's situations, especially of those in need. I am proud that you have nurtured that aspect in your life and that you have become a strong person, both mentally and physically. Continued success with training, have a blast on your long rides, and keep setting the example for our community. You will do it little bro!

Rusty (1/30/08 10:22AM): Chris, unlike so many people (like me) you are making the personal commitment to help those who need it most. I admire you for your compassion and dedication to having a real impact on the lives of others. Good luck and godspeed on your journey!
