I'm Riding to End AIDSFrom June 1-7, 2008, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I am doing this ride for a number of reasons. First, the challenge is irresistible; cycling from San Francisco to Los Angeles would be an incredible experience that I wish to have and to reflect on in the future. Second, by participating in this ride, I have an opportunity to make an important contribution to the HIV/AIDS community; if you're going to have the chance to help others out, why not take it? Third, I wanted to educate myself on this important issue. I feel it is necessary to gain an understanding of this tragic epidemic that affects so many of us in the world today.
I think its safe to say that we are all supportive, and we all want to help out in any way that we can, but sometimes don't know how to or through which means. Please take this as an opportunity for yourself to stand up and to take action by contributing whatever you can. Any contribution is a step forward.

Eugene's BlogSunday, May 18, 20086:47 PM108 mile ride todayDid a 108 mile ride today. My ass is going to hurt tomorrow. Beautiful forests, luscious greens, endless countryside with rolling hills... I was going 30+ MPH and this deer was going to jump out to get onto the road right in front of me. Thank God he changed his mind but I ended up eating shit anyway. I couldn't imagine the mess that would occur to the deer if I had ran into him.... Right. What was really gross was seeing another deer dead in the bike lane. Ew... Approaching it, I could smell a dead carcass (I'm good at smelling carcasses) and knew there was a dead animal somewhere. Then there was the hand signal of debris from the cyclist in front of me. A different kind of debris.
