I'm Riding to Help Children and Adults Living and Suffering from HIV/AIDS

"As I left the lunch stop area, I realized it was getting hot, starting to feel fatigue and wishing the wind would stop blowing. As I looked behind me with 30 miles to go I saw a rider approaching me rapidly. He sat on my rear wheel for about a mile then he pulled next to me and said; "we have 25 more to go, we can drag it out for 2 or 3 hours or we can give it all we got, work together and make it to the finish in just over an hour." I didn't know if I had it in me until he pulled in front of me and I drafted him for another mile. We went back and forth and before you knew it, we were done. That boy can ride!! I say boy because I later found out he was 21 years old. Until last week he was not planning on doing this ride. His father was going too until 2 weeks ago, on a training ride, his father was hit by a truck and still in the hospital. He wanted to do this for his father as he knew he would be proud. This will be one of my most memorable moments. Working hard and working as a team "we" beat the wind, heat and fatigue together and shared a ton of smiles and laughs along the way. (please send a prayer or good thoughts to Justin's father) We considered ourselves victorious!"

Hello Friends and Family for Life -

Some of you may remember this day last year. If you were riding with me you would have experienced 98 degree temperatures, side winds up around 60 mph and nothing to see but sand and dust storms. (Stage 3 of the ALC 2007 = 77 Miles, King City to Pasa Robles, CA)

With over 2300 riders from across the world I rode 545 miles to raise money for children AND adults living with HIV and AIDS. Yes a very controversial disease but a very important disease that affects the lives of millions. I rode every mile and raised over $15,000.00 to help those living with HIV/AIDS.

My goal this year is to raise $10,000.00 and hope to exceed $15,000.00 again. I could not and will not be able to do this without your support and prayers! I'm looking forward to the long days and hard work ahead. Team Ford has their game face on and we cannot wait to help all those who benefit from this amazing event; the hospitals, care providers and most importantly the patients in need!

Thank you for all your support and remember…Love life because we all have a choice!
