Cyclist Representative


Reports to:  Associate Director - SF

Status: Full Time


General Summary

The Cyclist Representative (CR) stewards AIDS/LifeCycle (ALC) participants to meet and exceed fundraising goals. The position reports to the Associate Director or CR Manager/Senior CR and is accountable for a combination of individual and team goals. Additionally this position will be responsible for collaborating on (and possibly leading) assigned initiatives and/or programs critical to the Ride's success.


Essential Job Functions

Including, but not limited to:

  1. Achieve assigned fundraising goals by managing a portfolio of 500+ participants
  2. Track participant progress with the aid of multiple database systems; develop strategies based on participant progress to increase fundraising revenue and improve participant experience.
  3. Frequent verbal and digital communication with participants.
  4. Schedule and organize field visits and meetings with participants.
  5. Manage and facilitate workshops; knowledge of (or willingness and capacity to learn about) peer-to-peer fundraising, training for ALC, and ALC logistics from a participant perspective is required.
  6. Recruit and manage a roster of volunteers to execute a variety of special projects.
  7. Collaborate (and possibly lead) assigned projects that are critical to the Ride's success. Potential assignments include management of ALC: Communications, Fundraising Leader (FRL) program, Team's Initiative, Women's Initiative, etc.
  8. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and two years of experience in events production, fundraising or customer service required. Valid CA driver's license required.

Successful experience in project management required. Direct experience with peer-to-peer fundraising required (professionally and/or as a participant). Direct experience with long-distance cycling / physical training programs required. Experience recruiting and supervising volunteers preferred. Experience as a Cyclist in an AIDS/LifeCycle or other cycling event preferred. Experience with CRM databases preferred.


Job Qualifications & Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in events production, fundraising or customer service required. Valid CA driver’s license required. Direct experience with long-distance cycling and endurance training programs required. Experience supervising volunteers preferred. Experience as a cyclist in an AIDS/LifeCycle or other cycling event preferred. Experience with CRM databases preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Skill in operating office equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine and telephone system. Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires working weekend and evening hours on a regular basis and staffing the AIDS/LifeCycle event, including pre and post production duties. The AIDS/LifeCycle event production involves working 16+ consecutive days (up to 16 hours per day) during the event. Significant walking, lifting, standing, driving, and camping outside is required.
