Positive Pedaler Cylists and Roadies, AIDS/LifeCycle 10, June 2011
*COMING SOON - Full Directory of Active AIDS/LifeCycle Teams for ALC 11!*
Why Join a Team?
There are many advantages to participating in AIDS/LifeCycle as part of a team. A team can provide you with support, camaraderie, creativity and motivation. A team can consist of two or more participants, and can include Cyclists or Roadies or both. It might be a naturally formed group like co-workers, neighbors, or families, or it could be a group of people with nothing in common, who just decided to form a team! It's entirely up to you. Many teams are particularly welcoming to first-time participants - feel free to contact the AIDS/LifeCycle office and we can put you in touch!
In AIDS/LifeCycle 9, we had 156 teams that raised over $2.5 million! Our top team was Team Pop-U-Lar. The current list of top teams can be seen here.
Team Guidelines:
- Every Cyclist on the team is responsible for having a minimum of $3000 in their individual accounts by Orientation Day This applies to Cyclists only; Roadies do not have a fundraising requirement.
- All donations are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- The team page will act as a directory for the donor. It will provide a list of all team members and links to each individual's page. Donations can only be made to individual members of a team, and not to the team itself. See "Team Fundraising" below for more information.
- At the Team Captain's discretion the homepage can also show the team's goal and total amount raised by the team. See "Team Captian" below for more infomation.
- To withdraw from a team, a participant must contact their Cyclist Representative or Roadie Manager.
- If you have already registered as an individual and would like to join or start a team now, please contact your Cyclist Representative or Roadie Manager.
- To register and start a team, click the register link at the top of this page. When forming a team and registering online, you'll automatically become the Team Captain. You can choose to protect your team with a password, or you leave your team open for anyone to join.
Information on Donations to Participants on Teams
How Do Teams Share the Wealth?
- Every Cyclist on the team is responsible for having a minimum of $3000 in their individual accounts by Orientation Day This applies to Cyclists only; Roadies do not have a fundraising requirement, but are encouraged to fundraise, too.
- General donations cannot be submitted for a team. Each donation must be credited to one of the team member's individual accounts.
- For online donations, Team Captains or other members can ask donors to give to a certain team member. For example:
- Thanks for your support of Team Pedaling for a Cure! One of our team members, Joe Cyclist, needs another $300 to meet his goal. Please click Joe's name below to donate to;his account.
- For offline donations, Team Captains or other members can distribute donations amongst the team before they are submitted to the bank. A single check can be split up among participants on a team only if the check is accompanied by a donation form for each participant receiving part of the donation. This cannot be done after the check is sent in. For example:
- Team Pedaling for a Cure raised over $600 at their weekend car wash. Because Joe Cyclist and Rachel Rider each needed $300 to meet their minimums, the Team Captain split the proceeds between the two of them. To do this, one check was submitted with one of Joe's donation forms and one of Rachel's donation forms, each filled out for $300.
Once donations are submitted for posting to an individual participant's account, they cannot be transferred to another participant's account.
If you have questions on team fundraising, please contact us in the AIDS/LifeCycle office.
