So my second ride started out at Mclaren Lodge at the top of Golden Gate Park.

It was an awesome day and I was feeling motivated. The sun was up and no fog in sight as we started out on a good pace riding in an area that I had never seen before through residential homes that were very impressive as well as the view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Up some good climbs which at the beginning weren't a problem. Then the last one was not so easy...I walked some of it and made it almost to the top where every one else was waiting.

After a few moments, we continued on and were climbing and it started to hit me. I started to get light headed and my legs shook. I stopped one of the trainers who was hanging with me. He had sugar packets and I asked for one as I am borderline Diabetic and wondered if this was it. After a few minutes, we continued on a slow pace and I told him I will make a decision at the Cliff House at the bottom of the hill.

On the way down, I knew I had to stop and let them continue, my ride was done. When I got off my bike, I could hardly stand up and walk to the bench. I was spinning and not sure if I was going to pass out or be sick, so called for a ride. I had been downing water and Gatorade and had a good breakfast so I know I was not dehydrated. I laid down on the bench and after 20 minutes was feeling like nothing had happened. I felt I could have went on at that point, but knew I just needed to call it a day..

So now I know I am going to have to change a few things! With the time change, I will do short rides using the hills that are around my home and work on better diet choices.

I hope this makes a difference.

Wow..My first ride since I had those little playing cards in my spokes. ( remember that? )

Today was the first of I hope many a rides and a new chapter in my life as well.

about 50 of us rode from the Presidio San Francisco across the Golden Gate to Tibueron and back, it was 40 miles and took about 6 hours for me to do.

With time I hope to reduce this to 4.

I am sure the pain of it will hit me in the days to come. but worth it!

The next ride will be from Guerneville to the ocean and back, another 40 + miles on my own.
