This extraordinary collection of businesses plays an integral role in the success of AIDS/LifeCycle. In addition to offering generous discounts to our participants, each of our Platinum Level Partners is donating goods or services valuing $1500 or higher. We cannot thank them enough!
This page is for them, and we wanted to let them share in their words, why they are so committed to this event, and to the issue of HIV/AIDS.

The American Cyclery family is proud to be a supporter of the AIDS/LifeCycle ride. Every year working with LifeCycle riders we meet many new customers who become friends of our shop. We've found LifeCycle riders to be some of the most active, fun and intelligent people in the Bay Area cycling world. We are excited to meet new riders to LifeCycle and see our favorite seasoned veterans back again.
Training for and riding LifeCycle is no small endeavor (give yourself credit!). Be prepared to invest in solid equipment designed for touring, rather than racing, and choose an accessible shop that you can turn to as often as you need for repairs, adjustments, accessories and advice.
We aim to earn the loyalty of the LifeCycle community through experienced, personal service. We specialize in tailor-fitting riders (both very large and very small) to hand built frames from Waterford, Gunnar, Mikkelsen and Lyon. We also carry production bikes of all styles by Bianchi, Specialized, SOMA and Raleigh. We believe a bike should be comfortable and reliable and your experience buying it pleasant.
We will be holding clinics and rides at our shop, so come check us out! Our shops are both located at the junction of Stanyan and Frederick Streets near Golden Gate Park. Thank you again for supporting LifeCycle; congratulations on becoming a member of a great cycling community!

Drs. Brian Rizzo and Gregory J Gorman are doctors of chiropractic who are also Active Release Techniques practitioners specializing in soft tissue and repetitive strain injuries for the spine and extremities.
A.R.T. is deep tissue work, resulting in increased strength, function, and mobility with relief from acute or chronic pain.
Traditionally, soft-tissue care has meant drugs, heat, cold, rest and massage. These treatments have little or no lasting effect and usually do not effectively solve the problem. A.R.T. treatment protocols effectively solve and treat these problems by breaking the cumulative injury cycle.
Our experience has shown that A.R.T., combined with chiropractic care is extremely effective when treating myofascial and musculoskeletal injuries. Our patients get better more quickly and stay better longer.
Brian has treated tri-athletes, cyclists, runners, rugby players, and other local sport and team athletes on site and at special events, such as Ironman Kona. Brian has a background in Mechanical Engineering and a degree in Biological Sciences. With a strong interest in health, he naturally proceeded into Chiropractic Health care. An athlete himself, Brian believes that exercise helps keep the body and mind physically and mentally fit. Brian truly enjoys working with people of all fitness and performance levels.
In 2002, Greg was an Active Release Techniques provider at the Kona, HI Ironman competition. In January 2003, Greg completed his certification as an Ashtanga yoga instructor from It's Yoga in San Francisco. In August of 2004, Greg completed Level I Reiki training. Greg is currently completing the 100 hour certification in Applied Kinesiology. In addition to chiropractic, Greg is on the faculty of the Its Yoga Teacher training program as the anatomy and biomechanics instructor.
Both Brian and Greg realize the importance of supporting our community in the fight for a cure for HIV/AIDS. They offer their support where they are the strongest and most helpful; through health. Providing chiropractic care and A.R.T. to the participants of the AIDS LifeCycle is the greatest gift for them.

Helen's has been involved with AIDS/LifeCycle from the beginning, continuing their support from the days of the California AIDS Rides by helping ALC fund the lifesaving AIDS and HIV services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Taking good care of people and their bikes since 1936. Helen's Cycles was created in 1936 by Helen and Ted Throckmarton. They built the Santa Monica Broadway location in mid 1960. The current owner Duane & Karen Stier purchased this location in 1975. The other Helen's stores were purchased on the following years in an effort of being the market leader in Southern California. Helen's Cycles has stemmed from a realization that cycling is a large, but fragmented industry and that bicycle retailing is populated by large number small stores, typically owned and operated by bicycle enthusiasts. Check the community supports page for locations and contact information.

Mike's Bikes was founded in 1964 as Marin County's first Schwinn shop. Rumor has it that our store in San Rafael was home to some of the first mountain bikes in the country. Over the years, cycling has changed dramatically and Mike's Bikes has always evolved to stay on the cutting edge. We consistently offer you the very best experience cycling has to offer.
Today, Mike's Bikes is part of a growing family of local bike shops, all with a singular purpose - to get as many lucky Bay Area people on bikes as possible. We locally own and operate four wildly successful stores in:
San Francisco - San Rafael - Berkeley - Sausalito - Palo Alto
Each of our 70 employees is a dedicated cyclist who strives to ensure that your experience in our stores and on your bike is the best they can be.
We have been a major supporter of the California AIDS Ride and AIDS/LifeCycle for many years. We are always amazed at the number of people who devote so much time, energy, and money to this noble cause. This passion inspires us to support you. Velo
Girls™ was founded in 2002 by Lorri Lee Lown. In addition to being one of the
largest and most active cycling clubs in Northern
California, Velo Girls™ is also one of the most active and
innovative coaching organizations for both women and men. Velo Girls™ was
recognized by USA Cycling as Club of the Year in both 2003 and 2004 and by City
Sports Magazine as Best of the Bay in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Lorri cycled throughout childhood and into her early 20s, but then hung up her bike for more than a decade. In 1999, she made the life-changing decision to become healthy and signed up to participate as a rider in the California AIDS Ride, a 600-mile, seven-day bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. She quit smoking and started riding, along with yoga and resistance training, and transformed herself into a cyclist.
In 2001, she returned to school to study to become a personal fitness trainer and a cycling coach. She's a USA Cycling Expert Cycling Coach, an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, and has studied extensively at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Since 2002, she's dedicated herself to helping others achieve personal success and improve self-esteem through riding a bicycle. She coaches recreational riders and competitive cyclists alike, including both women and men. She's made a name for herself teaching cycling skills both in clinics and to individuals. She's also an expert bike fitter, performing more than 1,000 fits since 2002. In addition, she develops personal coaching plans for all types of cyclists, from beginner to national champion racers.
Lorri has completed two California AIDS Rides, one AIDS LifeCycle, and the Alaska AIDS Vaccine Ride. She's a bike commuter, has done self-supported touring, completed numerous centuries and organized rides and tours, competes in road races, criteriums, time trials, stage races, mountain bike races, and cyclocross races. She founded and coaches Team Velo Girls™ (formerly the Velo Girls™ Racing Team) and the Peninsula Junior Mountain Bike Club. She resides in San Mateo with her puppy, Julie.
Velo Girls™ has been a partner with AIDS LifeCycle since our inception in 2002. For ALC7 we're offering one complete six-month coaching package to a lucky rider participating in ALC. In addition to providing bike fit and testing, Lorri will develop a personalized day-by-day training plan for that participant, monitor their progress, advise them along the way, and help ensure that they have a successful, life-changing experience!
