An incredible organization of men and women cyclists who are living with HIV/AIDS, the Positive Pedalers participate in cycling-related fundraising events for AIDS service organizations around the country.

FirstCAREE.org

First CAREE (www.firstcaree.org)

FirstCAREE is a not-for-profit clearing house for cycling clothing and equipment. The goal of FirstCAREE is to help first time novice cyclists participating in charity fund-raising events. The program is free to any cyclist that needs help in obtaining proper clothing and equipment and any cyclist wishing to help someone else obtain proper clothing and or equipment. The five year-old program offers an email link directly to the FirstCAREE Coordinator who recieves "has" or "wants" listings via the email link. The coordinator then matches the parties with personal attention to their specific needs. The emphasis is on donations only and is not a message board for the sale of items. Our home base is in the San Francisco Bay area.

CARE Exchange

An amazingly comprehensive stash of all things related to participating in a long distance bicycle fundraiser. Completely built and maintained by participants in previous events, it's a particularly great source for you newbies starting to get nervous about - anything. Definitely a must-read.

San Francisco Bicycle Coalition

San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (sfbike.org)

The Coalition is "an alliance of thousands of people who ride bicycles, and who want to encourage more people to ride bicycles because they know it makes for a better city." This crisply designed site features a wide range of biking resources in San Francisco -- from maps to lists of garage bike parking -- as well as a calendar of SF bicycle-related events and rides.

Different Spokes of Southern California

Different Spokes was founded in 1983 to promote cycling activities among members and friends of the gay and lesbian communities in Southern California. The group offers a wide variety of road and mountain bike rides, ranging from easy to advanced, throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The groups also has social events and weekend trips.

Different Spokes San Francisco is the San Francisco Bay Area's Lesbian and Gay bicycling club, open to all members of the Gay-Lesbian community and its friends. The organization has been active since 1982 and currently has over 180 active members, 43% of which are women. As well as weekly rides, we participate in weekend event and century rides all over California. See you on the road!

Shifting Gears Recreational Cycling Club

This group offers safe group rides in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. They offer easy, moderate, and long road rides weekly and easy to moderate mountain bike rides monthly. Their mission is to train and educate cyclists of all levels who are preparing for single-day rides, multi-day events, or who are just cycling for the health of it.

Bay Area Velo Girls

The San Francisco Bay Area's only road cycling club exclusively for women. Founded by former AIDS Rider and current ALC volunteer, Lorri Lee Lown. Weekly rides & events for all levels of riders (from beginners to racers), including a monthly bike basics beginner clinic. Non-members are always welcome on our rides. Come out and get involved!

Team Orange County

Team Orange County is a training group made up of riders from Long Beach, the Inland Empire and the cities that form Orange County. Riders of varying skills and abilities from all walks of life that have come together for a common purpose. We ride and train for a 545 mile cycling event called AIDS/LifeCycle. We do this in memory of those lost and suffering from HIV and AIDS. In addition, we ride to elevate awareness of this dreadful killer in our community. We are a group of individuals with our own stories who have come together to form an unusual, caring and loving family.

Oakland Yellowjackets

Active since 1986, the Oakland Yellowjackets are a uniquely social and multi-cultural bicycling community for men and women of all ages and skill levels. Four distinct riding groups on scheduled club rides accommodate cyclists of various abilities. Best of all, the club's "no-drop" policy ensures that all cyclists always ride accompanied. The Yellowjackets are a proud in-kind sponsor for AIDS/Lifecycle's "Team Oakland" and warmly welcome cyclists from all over the world.
