Welcome to the Saturday East Bay training series! This series is designed as slow ramp-up starter series for new riders but welcomes riders at all skill levels, including those who haven’t ridden a bike in years and those who may be recovering from injuries.

A lot of this week’s terrain is very beautiful, but challenging. We head to Castro Valley via Lower Pinehurst and Redwood Road. Our first rest stop is Peet’s in Castro Valley at mile 19 with a BART option, or for those that don’t want to do all the miles you may retrace your steps back up Redwood to Pinehurst to Moraga and then Orinda for a 38-mile option. For those of us continuing on, from Castro Valley we head towards Dublin with an out-and-back option to climb to the Summit on Palomares. (Skip the Palomares out and back and shave around 10 miles off of your ride.) From Palomares we tackle Schaefer Ranch and the Dublin Grade. Lunch will be at Sprouts in Dublin, where there is another BART option (40-mile ride with Palomares, 29-mile ride without). From Dublin we work our way back to Peet’s in Alamo for our final rest stop before heading back through Lafayette (another BART option) on our way to Orinda.

All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win!

Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
