Houston-Area ALC Training Series

There are three possible loops for this ride, all of which start and end at Abe & Irene Levine Park in the center of Sealy. The 41-mile loop goes from Sealy to Bellville, then through Cat Spring and back to Sealy. It has 35 miles of rolling hills. Ten miles of the 41-mile loop are on TX-35, which has wide shoulders that enable riders to stay away from the high speed traffic. Most of the rest of the 41-mile loop is on FM roads with light to moderate traffic. If the wind is blowing from the south, you will face hills and headwind on the way back. The second two loops, one 10.6 miles and the other 20 miles, head east of Sealy toward Stephen F. Austin Park and beyond. The 10.6-mile loop is a subset of the 20-mile loop, where the rider takes a right turn from PR 38 to FM 1458 instead of a left. The second two loops are primarily on rural roads with little traffic and much smaller hills. Convenience stores at service stations will serve as our rest stops. This ride will be re-scheduled in the event of rain. When you arrive at Ride Start, please park your car on the side of the street by City Hall, which is opposite Levine Park, to keep the parking spaces by the Levine Park open for residents.

All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations!
