To commemorate World AIDS Day, Chain Gang and Positive Pedalers are hosting a special training ride on December 7th with a visit to the Wall Las Memorias AIDS Monument in Lincoln Park, the first publicly funded AIDS monument in the US.
We will meet at Merry Go Round Parking Lot 3 in Griffith Park for a short, simple ride along the river bike path and into Lincoln Park to Wall Las Memorias AIDS Monument. We will gather there for a short vigil and moment of silence to remember all those we have lost, and share our memories and why we ride. We will have the chance to explore the monument before returning to Griffith Park the way we came.
DIRECTIONS: to find our start location – at the ranger station, go up the hill on the fire road towards the Merry Go Round. At the top, turn right and go through the first parking lot to get to Lot 2, turn right into that lot and immediately right again down a little hill to reach Lot 3.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations!
