Chain Gang Presents Thrills for More Hills!
Join the Chain Gang for the next step up on our famous Thrills for Hills ride – this route will give you some great hill training, and a good practice run for the longer version of the Thrills for Hills ride in early May.
After a short trip through Griffith Park and onto Los Feliz Blvd, we start our climbing on Chevy Chase. After a lovely descent to the Pasadena Rose Bowl, we ride out of Brookside Park (Rose Bowl) to our first pit stop at Einstein Bros Bagels & Peet’s Coffee. We’ll hop back onto our bikes and head up California Street to Sierra Madre Blvd passing Doreen’s High School (home of the Bulldogs) with more climbing along New York Ave and through Altadena. We make our way back towards the Rose Bowl and out onto Descanso Dr. for a second pit stop at Starbucks near Montrose before we head back down a beautiful long descent along Verdugo and La Canada and back to Griffith Park.
EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to join The Chain Gang TRL’s for this scenic and fun bike ride! The ALC-certified Training Ride Leaders are here to make sure you have all the support and encouragement you need. We are friendly, fun and ALL skill levels are welcome.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW MEETING PLACE: due to some recent safety issues at Crystal Springs, we will be meeting at the Merry Go Round Lot 3 instead – instead of turning off Crystal Springs towards the ranger station, go up the hill on the fire road towards the Merry Go Round instead. At the top, go through the first parking lot to get to Lot 2, and then down a little to reach Lot 3. We will meet at 8AM and please be prepared for the safety presentation at 8:15AM (mandatory). If you get lost in Griffith Park or having trouble finding the starting point please call Doreen at 310-210-7382.
The route link is coming shortly
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations.!
Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
