Chain Gang Presents Thrills for Hills- The WHOLE Way
70 Miles, Long and steep hills
Meet: 7:00 AM
Ride-Out: 7:30 AM
Rain Cancels
You have been training and riding and climbing all season, now it’s time to join the Chain Gang for the full version of Doreen’s famous Thrills for Hills route, and climb the big hills with beautiful views! We will take you on a short trip through Griffith Park before we start our first long climb up Chevy Chase. After a lovely descent to the Pasadena Rose Bowl, our first pit stop is at Noah’s Bagels.
From there, we head further East to Sierra Madre Blvd, with more climbing along New York Ave and through Altadena as we make our way back towards the Rose Bowl. Enjoy the downhill because we are about to climb again as we tackle Lida, and climb back up the second part of Chevy Chase.
After a well-deserved pit stop in Montrose, we get to enjoy a beautiful long descent along Verdugo and La Canada on our way to Sunland for the last climb of the day: La Tuna, because we save the best for last! You CAN do it and the ALC-certified Training Ride Leaders are here to make sure you have all the support and encouragement you need. We are friendly, fun and ALL skill levels are welcome. NO RIDER WILL EVER BE LEFT BEHIND.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW MEETING PLACE: due to some recent safety issues at Crystal Springs, we will be meeting at the Merry Go Round Lot 3 instead – instead of turning off Crystal Springs towards the ranger station, go up the hill on the fire road towards the Merry Go Round instead. At the top, go through the first parking lot to get to Lot 2, and then down a little to reach Lot 3. We will meet at 7AM and please be prepared for the safety presentation at 7:15AM (mandatory). If you get lost in Griffith Park or having trouble finding the starting point please call Doreen at 310-210-7382.
The route link is coming shortly
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations.!
Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
