Welcome to the Saturday East Bay training series! This series is designed as slow ramp-up starter series for new riders but welcomes riders at all skill levels, including those who haven’t ridden a bike in years and those who may be recovering from injuries.
Hello Diablo! This week the Wildcats tackle Mt. Diablo, but first there’s a few other climbs to get out of the way. We start out heading down to Bear Creek Road and midway through our Bear climbs we turn onto Happy Valley Road and climb yet another “hill” before descending into Lafayette. There is a BART option here making your ride 21 miles. From Lafayette we head to lunch at Lunardi’s in Danville. After lunch, we climb. We climb South Gate Rd to the Ranger Station on Diablo and then return the same way to Lunardi’s for a quick recuperative rest stop. If you skip the out and back to Mt. Diablo, you shave off the climb plus about 20 miles on our 72-mile ride. After Danville we head back to Lafayette where BART awaits those that wish to cut their ride short.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win
