Climb With Confidence
14 Miles, Rolling Hills and Steep Climbs
Meet: 10:00 AM SHARP!
Duration: This clinic will last approximately 4.5 Hours
Rain Cancels
Some of the difficulty we experience climbing is simply an exaggeration of our less than ideal cycling techniques. When we descend and ride in the flats our less efficient pedal strokes and form is somewhat masked.
Come learn to climb and go away with techniques to help you ride 545 miles to LA come June.
We are not professional cycling coaches, nor are we personal trainers. We are cyclists just like you who have had our own, not always positive, feelings about hills. We are experienced AIDS/LifeCycle participants who wish to share a myriad of hill climbing techniques that we have learned over the years, and like you, we also wish to continue to improve upon our own hill climbing abilities.
We’ll help you understand your gears and how to shift to make pedaling easier going uphill as well as how to avoid the dreaded “chain-drop”. And then there’s always the old adage, “Practice. Practice. Practice.”
Our route through the Presidio will take us over eight hills, with an equal number of descents. As we loop our way through this historical park, we will never be very far from our ride start. So if eight hills sounds like too much for you right now, join us for the first two or three hills, knowing that you may stop at any time and will never be very far away from our starting point. The exact location will be identified closer to the date of the date.
Novice to experienced Cyclists welcomed!
Please arrive before the meet time so that you will be ready to sign in and get started promptly at 10:00 AM. Be sure to bring plenty of snacks and water as climbing all these hills may kick your hunger into overdrive and we won’t be passing any place to buy food. Due to the terrain of this ride, for everyone’s safety, slight rain and drizzle will cancel the ride.
One last thing to note, due to the popularity of this clinic, in order to ensure that each rider gets some one-on-one time with a Training Ride Leader on our hilly route, attendance will be limited. RSVP now to reserve and guarantee your spot.
If you are interested in attending, please be sure to RSVP. This clinic and ride will last approximately 4.5 hours. Have questions? Contact Deyon at kdjonson@gmail.com
REQUIRED ITEMS: bike, helmet, water bottle(s), tire changing tools
If you experience problems with the RSVP button, please email the RSVP to kdjonson@gmail.com
