5 Fun Climbs – The Starbucks Hop
90 Miles, Steep Hills with Long Climbs
Ride ID 2687
Meet: 6:30 AM
Ride-Out: 7:00 AM
Rain Cancels
We replaced our old ride to Joshua Tree & back with this local climbing extravaganza!! This is the hardest training ride of the season, so be forewarned, & inspired! This is somewhat like Day 4 of ALC. And it comes with a pre-requisite: riders doing this ride MUST have completed a 75 mile with 2500′ of climbing or more. Why? Safety – in desert heat, there’s a fine line between “stretching” and “exceeding” your own limits. This 90 mile ride climbs 5 local hills (Worsley, Cuando, Edom, 1000 Palms Canyon & the 74) with a stop at Starbucks in between each one. We’ll climb 4300′. And temps are supposed to hit 90. There are ways to make this route shorter w/ less climbing starting around mile 30. We’ll meet at the Starbucks at World Gym on Sunrise at 6:30, ride out at 7. Riders MUST arrive fed, HYDRATED, 2 water bottles with ice, & sunscreen for the day! Come challenge yourself, but keep a friend on speed-dial in case you need to call it early.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations.!
