Please note, this clinic is now full. Need help practicing hills? AIDS/LifeCycle training rides offer a lot of climbing practice. Let the Training Ride Leaders know if you would like any tips.
Are there times that you feel a little unsteady on your bike? Does riding in a group make you feel a little uncomfortable? Does your heart sink when you turn a corner and see a hill? Would you like to climb hills with more confidence?
If you answered yes to any of the above, please join us on our Climb with Confidence clinic in the beautiful and historic San Francisco Presidio, where we will share techniques with you that we’ve found to help us get over hills.
We are not professional cycling coaches, nor are we personal trainers. We are cyclists just like you who have had our own, not always positive, feelings about hills. We are experienced AIDS/LifeCycle participants who wish to share a myriad of hill-climbing techniques that we have learned over the years, and like you, we also wish to continue to improve upon our own hill-climbing abilities.
Some of the difficulty we experience climbing is simply an exaggeration of our less than ideal cycling techniques. When we descend or ride in the flats our less efficient form on the bike and incomplete pedal strokes get masked when we are not working against gravity.
Come learn to climb and go away with techniques to help you ride 545 miles to LA come June.
This clinic is a combination of classroom learning and outdoor riding which includes valuable one-on-one instruction. We don’t care how fast or slow you ride – we’re all here to improve our cycling ability and to practice riding hills.
Novice to experienced cyclists welcome but this is truly an amazing opportunity for newer cyclists to get more comfortable on their bikes and to build some confidence for their next training rides.
Due to the popularity of his clinic, to ensure that each rider gets some one-on-one time with a Training Ride Leader, attendance is limited. This clinic has reached it’s maximum registration and is now full. AIDS/LifeCycle training rides are a terrific place to practice hill climbing and descending. You can find weekly rides on AIDS/LifeCycle website calendar.
REQUIRED ITEMS: bike, helmet, water bottle(s), tire changing tools, and a mask.
COVID-19 Policy: Vaccination is required to participate. All participants must have received one Johnson & Johnson dose or the second Pfizer/Moderna dose at least two weeks before the Training Ride.
