The Infamous Látigo Challenge cannot happen this year because of road closures from the Woolsey Fire. So, as an alternative, we’re offering a somewhat different ride through the Santa Monica Mountains.
We’ll start in Encino and head west over Chalk Hill on Ventura Blvd. We’ll then ride a short way along Mulholland Highway to Old Topanga Canyon Blvd for a picturesque climb without much motor vehicle traffic. We’ll pass through the town of Topanga and take a wild descent along the S-curves of Topanga Canyon Blvd to the Pacific Coast. Next, we’ll climb Pepperdine Hill to Cross Creek and then climb Malibu Canyon Road and Las Virgines Road into the Santa Monica Mountains. We will take a rest stop at the Paramount Ranch before riding through Agoura on our way to lunch in Calabasas. We will return to Encino along the Orange Line Bike Path.
