12-15 Miles, Rolling Hills with a Few Steep Climbs
Meet Time: 8:00 am
Ride-Out Time: 8:30 am
Rain Cancels
Level: Beginner
Join the Chain Gang for a special skills clinic where we teach you the basics of climbing and descending, plus all the basic skills for riding your bike safely, with lots of tips and tricks for a fun and safe riding experience on AIDS/LifeCycle!
We will go over all the basic riding skills, from finding your balance to using your gears and how to handle hills both up and down, followed by some skill drills for climbing and descending – and then we go for a short ride around the park to practice those skills in a group out on the road. Bring your bike, helmet, water bottles and all your questions!
How to find our meet location: take Crystal Springs Drive to the Visitor Center, turn to go past the visitor center and the Ranger Station, then down the hill along the baseball field. Stay to the right at the small roundabout at the bottom and continue past the small bathroom building and around the bend at the end of the baseball field – we will be by the picnic tables there, look for the TRLs in orange vests!
