54 or 68 miles, Rolling hills with a few steep climbs
Meet Time: 7:30am
Ride-Out Time: 8:00am
Rain Cancels
This ride starts at Beason’s Park on the east side of Columbus and goes through the rolling hills to Fayetteville to Frelsburg to Bernardo
and then back to Columbus. Two-mile options are available: 54 miles with 1536 ft of climbing and 68 miles with 2073 ft of climbing. The two routes mostly overlap. The 54-mile loop takes a shorter route from Fayetteville to Frelsburg. Both routes involve climbing Lone Oak Hill, which is a 1/4 mile long 8% incline. The ride consists of rolling hills and, most likely, lots of wind. The wind makes this route a challenge, but you can do it!
Bring plenty of food, maybe some PB&J for a mid-ride snack, bars, and gels. Water and plumbed restrooms are available at the two rest stops. Neither are available at the ride start. The bathroom at Beason’s Park is out of service. There may be a couple of porta-potties there but use them only if you’re desperate. Best bet is to stop at a service station on the south side of I-10 near the exit. Check out Google Maps to find locations of service stations.
