Welcome to the Saturday East Bay training series! This series is designed as slow ramp-up starter series for new riders but welcomes riders at all skill levels, including those who haven’t ridden a bike in years and those who may be recovering from injuries.
This week there are options, ride the full route for 57 miles or cut the route short after lunch for 34 miles. We start out with re-visiting our namesake as we climb Wildcat Canyon to Grizzly Peak. We take a quick break at Sibley Reserve where there is only water and restrooms. (Bring food!) We continue along Skyline Drive before climbing up and over Lower Pinehurst on our way to Moraga. Our lunch stop will be at Safeway in Moraga. Returning to the BART parking lot rounds your ride out at roughly 34 miles. Continue on course and we’ll head down San Pablo Dam Road to Castro Ranch Road before tackling the Bears on our way back to Orinda BART.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win!
