Welcome to the Saturday East Bay training series! This series is designed as slow ramp-up starter series for new riders but welcomes riders at all skill levels, including those who haven’t ridden a bike in years and those who may be recovering from injuries.
This week we do a big loop passing through Moraga, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, and Lafayette, before returning to Orinda. We’ll go up Moraga Way, Canyon Road, lower Pinehurst Road, and Redwood Road to the top of the East Bay Hills. From there, we’ll continue south along Skyline Drive past the Oakland Zoo. Then we’ll take a quick break at a Starbucks in San Leandro before going around Lake Chabot on our way to lunch in Castro Valley. We’ll then climb Schaefer Ranch Road and get to enjoy the great descent on Dublin Boulevard before working our way to our last stop of the day at Lunardi’s in Danville. There are two BART shortcuts – 26 mile option to catch BART in Castro Valley and a 35 mile option to catch BART in West Dublin/Pleasanton.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win!
Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
