I am a Work In Progress....

Ok - last year I decided to Roadie and I had the time of my life. I sweat, I used a porta-potty, I camped, I made life-long friends in the span of seven days and I had my perception on life and how to live in my reality forever changed.

How do I top that?

Buy a bike (Fri, Aug 3, 2007), start training (Tues, Aug 7, 2007) and ride (June 1-7, 2008)! THAT'S how.

Last year, around 40 awesome people in my life contributed and helped me raise $2240 which was SWEEEEET! But this year, as a rider I have an obligation. I cannot ride unless I raise at least the minimum of $2500. But why stop there? I originally made my goal $4000, but since I've blown past it, I have updated it to $5000....

Am I crazy?    Undeniably.

Can I do it?    Undoubtedly.

How? I know incredible people like you who are willing to give back financially and support me in trying my damndest to make a difference in the fight against AIDS and HIV. Even if for no other reason, imagine me and how well you know me. If you knew me prior to my West-Coast move, then I seriously doubt you would have EVER considered that I would sign up to get on a bike and ride 545 miles from SF to LA, right? That alone (plus a picture of me in cycle shorts with that ever-so-sexy padded butt) must be worth $200 to donate. And every dollar is tax deductible!

But in all seriousness, this event and my undertaking are a testament to how blessed I am and what a truly incredible life I lead every day. Help me celebrate that and celebrate the brave men and women fighting this battle everyday by giving as much as you can.

Thanks and check back soon for some training updates in my personal training blog - Let's Ride, Clyde! - www.letsrideclyde.blogspot.com.

Tiffany #1975 (6/15/08 2:12PM): Shawn, So funny how we connected on the ride as you were staring at my butt....on the road behind me:)Finally got a chance to read your blog and loved it. Hope we can get out for a ride this year and I can tap into your 1300 miles you put in last year. I, however, can't touch that but at least draft a little....opps did I say that? Check out the video from closing ceremonies....it has a zoomed in picture of Bionca and I that was hanging from my bike. She is the one you mentioned in your blog and will ride with my in 2010. Cheers to one more year of "fighting back". Tiffany

Jason, Chris, and Charlie (6/08/08 9:26AM): Hey there Shawn,

First...... WE ARE SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU, MISTER

I know this message is after Day 7, but just wanted to send this to make sure you're still holding up strong. We are proud of you. Can't wait to register for next year. Can't wait to try to keep up to you on the road. Checking the registration online everyday.

Anyhow....hope you're having a good time on Day-after-Day 7. Always tended to be the most peaceful day for me. Nothing really matters, because you know what you've just accomplished and you're still in the "just drank the juice" bubble.

Have a great day. Love, Jason, Chris, and Charlie xoxoxo
