It’s Time To Climb, and not just for Kathy – join Chain Gang for a tour of our favourite hills, in a whole new configuration and with a little extra climbing thrown in just for fun! Starting our usual base from Crystal Springs Lower Picnic area, we make our way through the park to Riverside, along Sonora and Glenoaks to our first water stop in Sunland and our first climb of the day, La Tuna Canyon! The long descent takes us into Montrose for our pitstop at Coffee Bean.

From there, we are switching things up – descending Descanso, climbing Chevy Chase and Figueroa, then descending Lida (a nice change from climbing it!) towards the Rose Bowl. We follow our usual route through South Pas to our next stop at Einstein Bagels on Lake and California, and we will need all the carbs we eat there because we are about to head uphill again!

Just past CalTech, the route takes us up Hill Ave to New York Drive, and then all the way up Lake Avenue to the very top. A well deserved downhill along Loma Alta and Lincoln takes us back to Woodbury, and we make our way up Highland to Chevy Chase and Descanso and another pitstop at Starbucks just before Montrose. From there, it’s all downhill again as we follow our route back through Glendale, down Sonora and Riverside into the park and back to our meeting point.

The route is at:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45768282/

All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations.!

Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
