Houston-Area ALC Training Ride Series
Take a tour of up to 3 Houston Bayous on this first for the Houston-Area ALC Training Series!
Ride consists of a combination of Houston Bayou Hike and Bike Trails and Houston streets.
The complete 37-mile loop has portions on Brays Bayou, Buffalo Bayou, and White Oak Bayou and two rest stops. Landmarks include University of Houston, Mason Park, and Stude Park. Neighborhoods include the Greater East End, East Downtown, The Heights, Downtown, Midtown, and the Museum District.
Second rest stop is a pearl, where you’ll have a choice of ice cream, crepes, or even a full lunch if you want.
There is a bail-out point Downtown, where you skip the loop to The Heights.
You’ll then do only 24 miles and will miss the ice cream! (Bail-out may be on your own; cue sheet will be provided.)
Second loop heads west on Brays Bayou and then up through West University and Rice University back to Hermann Park. All routes include riding on Houston city streets. Some have bike lanes. Most do not. Many are residential streets. There are some thoroughfares. Traffic is reasonably low.
This is a good route to get accustomed to city riding, which you will have to do on AIDS/LifeCycle.
Ride will be rescheduled in the event of rain.
If you are interested in attending, please be sure to RSVP. Have questions? Contact Chuck D’Angelo at cdangelo@ix.netcom.com
